Save the Best for Last

Did you know that the Air Jordan xx3 is the last "numbered" Jordan model? The Jordan 2009, Jordan 2010, and now the Jordan 2011 are actually Jordans 24-26 but for marketing purposes, the brand decided that there was something symbolic and final about stopping at number 23. Now, each new Jordan is kind of like a car model released each year.

Being the final numbered model, Jordan really wanted a shoe that evoked a true sense of luxury and craftsmanship for the xx3. The main leather panel on both the lateral and medial sides of the shoe are inspired by fine Italian leathers and patterns. Also, other details of the shoe are meant to reflect a high level of sophistication not found in other shoes. For example, the outsole (bottom) of the shoe is Jordan's actual thumbprint (FAIL: I should've taken a picture of it). Interestingly enough, there's no Jordan logo anywhere on the shoe and yet, something about the look of the shoe still screams "air Jordan."

I found these on sale during a Las Vegas trip a couple of years ago. I couldn't decide which color to buy so I ended up going a little crazy and getting these three:

It's definitely a nice shoe to bring out for special occasions...or if I just want to unnecessarily look good at the local starbucks.
